  1. Preparing for "World War Z" in 2010

In 2k9 Ruben Fleischer’s ‘Zombieland’ was an epic hit. There is a mass Zombie-flick following out there full of kiddos who know Tom Savini and George Romero better than Scorcese. For me, ‘Zombieland’ (along with the release of ‘Left 4 Dead 2’) was an incredible way of introducing new-comers to the Zombie culture. Don’t get me wrong, they have a lot of catching up to do. Zombies didn’t always sprint and have computer generated, maggot-filled mandibles. Those noobs who enjoyed ‘Zombieland’ and are taken aback by the ‘L4D’ games would most likely enjoy the old shit too.

The way ‘Zombieland’ was made, with the quick humor and obvious casting aimed at young people who may have never had an interest in Zombs (cue Michael Cera look-alike.) seems like the perfect set-up for the beginning of what may be ‘The new Zombie movie’ era. The next couple of years are going to have a pretty substantial pool of films about the undead to feed our craving. Along with ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’, ‘World War Z’ will be in theaters soon. From the director of ‘Stranger than Fiction’, ‘Monster’s Ball’ and ‘Finding Neverland’ comes a large-scale zombie movie based on the best-selling book by Max Brooks. The story is based on a series of interviews with people experiencing/involved in a decade long war with zombies. To be honest, I am more stoked about this movie than I was ‘Zombieland’. It looks like ‘World War Z’ is going to be the kind of movie that Zombie-fans new and old will appreciate, and hopefully garnish even more new undead-heads.
